Design & Construction

This piece is built as a rectangular wall-mounted cabinet with a carved deer and forest scene set into the front panel, and a row of four coat hooks fixed to the shelf ledge below it. The front panel is top-hinged and lifts straight upward to open, held in place once open by a gas strut mounted on the interior side panel.

How the Magnetic Lock Works

There's no keyhole or keypad anywhere on this piece, which would give away what it actually is. Instead, when a magnetic key placed on the front panel triggers a mechanical latch inside, positioned about 2 inches above the panel's lower edge. Hold the magnetic key to that spot, and the latch releases; a light upward pull is all it takes to open the door smoothly. To lock it again, simply push the panel down lightly. The latches re-engage as the panel closes flush.

Installation
