YOUR PADDLE. YOUR WEIGHT. YOUR RULES.
Every player is different. Every session is different. A fixed-weight cap is a compromise. The SLYCE Externally Adjustable SpeedCap is not.
This is the precision-tuner version of the SpeedCap — built for players who want to experiment, fine-tune, and dial in their exact setup rather than guess and commit. Adjust the weight externally, without removing the cap or rewrapping your grip. Try 21g on Tuesday, run 36g on Thursday, and find the sweet spot that makes your paddle feel like an extension of your arm.
How it works
The Adjustable SpeedCap ships with a set of interchangeable weight inserts — 5g, 10g, and 15g — that thread into the cap's aluminum body from the outside using the included Allen key. Stack them to reach your target weight anywhere from 21g to 36g.
No grip removal. No reinstallation. Just loosen the collar, swap or add an insert, and you're back on the court in under two minutes.
The cap body is machined from 6061 Aircraft Aluminum — the same alloy used in aerospace structures — giving you a lightweight, durable housing that adds minimal dead weight of its own, leaving room for your chosen inserts to do the work.
Why adjustability changes everything
Players who have used fixed-weight caps know the feeling: you add 28g, love it for drives, but notice your dinks feel slightly heavy at the kitchen after an hour. You want a little less without starting over.
The Adjustable SpeedCap solves that. Three real-world scenarios from players who've made that switch:
Dialing in a new paddle — When you pick up a new stick, you don't know yet what weight balance works best for it. Start at 21g, play a few sessions, add weight incrementally until everything clicks. No wasted caps, no guesswork.
Managing fatigue mid-session — One reviewer (Art E.) figured this out on his own: "Once I started to tire after a couple hours, I can very quickly reduce the weight so that I don't start driving into the net." The Adjustable Cap lets you play heavier when you're fresh and back off when your arm needs a break. That's a game management tool most players haven't thought of — until they have one.
Coming from another racquet sport — Players moving to pickleball from tennis or racquetball often want more mass than a stock paddle provides. The ability to run full 36g gives those players the familiar swing weight they're used to — without being locked in if it turns out to be too much.
What you'll feel at each weight range
| Weight range | What it does | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 21g–25g | Subtle balance shift, light power boost, improved handle feel | Players new to weighting, lighter paddles, those with arm sensitivity |
| 26g–30g | Noticeable swing weight increase, better dwell on drives, improved stability | The sweet spot for most 3.5–4.5 players |
| 31g–36g | Maximum plow-through, slowest swing but heaviest contact, excellent for power players | Power-first players, former tennis/racquetball players, heavy hitters |
Weight affects every player differently based on their paddle's existing weight and balance point. We recommend starting at 21g and building up in 5g increments across separate sessions.
What players are saying
"I went out and played the next day trying different weight configurations and ended up using all 36 grams. The weight moved the center balance of the paddle from 7½" stock to 8⅝". The total weight of the paddle is now 275 grams. For me, the balance now leans toward hand speed at the kitchen — and yet my drives are even more crisp than before. 5 Stars." — Mike S. (verified buyer)
"Coming from a very competitive level in racquetball, I'm used to a racquet with more weight. The adjustable SpeedCap solved all my problems. Once I started to tire after a couple hours, I can very quickly reduce the weight so I don't start driving into the net. Awesome product." — Art E. (verified buyer)
"This is the best version of the SpeedCap I've found. It allows me to try different weights to find what works best for me." — James H. (verified buyer)
