Slow down and work the bottom. The Wolf Spider Football Jig is a natural choice for picking apart rocky banks, gravel points, and offshore structure with a crawfish-style presentation. Its football-shaped head gives this jig its own role in your tacklebox: dragging, pausing, and working through changes in bottom contour rather than rushing past them.

Each jig is hand-tied and secured with stainless steel wire for added skirt durability, with a straight-shank, heavy-wire Mustad UltraPoint hook. The skirt is left long so you can fish it full or trim it to your preferred length and profile.

If you’re new to football jigs, cast out and let the jig reach the bottom. Slowly pull it a short distance with your rod, pause, then reel up the slack and repeat. Mix in small hops to imitate a crawfish moving across the bottom. Take your time around rock and changes in depth, and give the jig a moment to settle between movements.

Thread a soft-plastic craw or creature bait onto the hook to add shape and movement. This added bait is called a trailer, and it lets you tailor the profile to the presentation you want.
